Fast forward two years and the 41-year-old royal adorned a polka dot midi dress from Alessandra Rich, which fetched around £1,500, to the late Duke of Edinburgh's memorial service.
She turned to the London-based designer once again in 2022 as she wore, yet another, blue and white polka dot dress to Wimbledon.
However, the four-figure price tag of these designer buys does not fill us (or our bank balance), with much joy, so we are thrilled that M&S has released a similar, and much more affordable, alternative.
M&S' Spot Print Tea Midaxi Dress retails for a fraction of the price but looks equally as expensive as the designer counterparts.

The M&S polka dot dress boasts a regular fit, as it floats over the bust, before cinching in around the waist thanks to a subtle pleated bias hem to accentuate the wearer's figure, without being too restrictive or figure hugging.
The design floats out into a straight floaty mid-length skirt, which falls midway down the leg between the calf and the ankle.
It also boasts an uber-flattering balloon 3/4-length sleeve, a gorgeous round neckline and zip-up fastening at the back of the dress.
M&S has listed this dress as a "chocolate mix", which, in other words, means a deep brown with a cream spot print.
The dress is available to buy in petite, regular and long sizes, ranging from a UK dress size 6 to 24, and M&S has stressed the dress fits true to size.
This one piece can be worn to the office, date night dinners and drinks, as well as weddings, christenings and other special occasions.
It is super versatile as you can pair it with trainers, heeled boots, or heels.
While this M&S dress is part of the new collection, shoppers are already singing its praises.
One review read: "It's gorgeous, perfect fit, length and sleeve are lovely. So pleased with it."
Another added: "Purchased for a family wedding soon. Love the length, the round neck (makes a nice change from so many v-neck clothing) and sleeve length, the pattern as well as the chocolate colour."
While a third shared: "The colours in it make a good change from the usual run at this time of year of black, more black, or animal print.
"The brown is a soft mocha shade, with a cafe latte polka dot. The sleeves are 3/4 and again, a nice change from all the puffed, elasticated sleeves of late."
