A man living in a shopping centre for the last six months set himself up with a cosy bed and a desk to study at.

The unnamed man had been living inside the supermarket for half a year when stunned security guards discovered his makeshift abode. An ergonomic chair, as well as a tent, table and computer, were all found inside.

His makeshift home has since been raided by mall staff who allege the youngster was living underneath a staircase for the better part of six months.

He had managed to evade security for some time and regularly ventured out to recharge his portable devices by using the shopping centre's charging sockets.

But a lone security guard accidentally stumbled in on the makeshift home, though allowed the unnamed camper to stay there while he studied for his exams. The man had lived under the stairs of a Shanghai mall until October 30.

A second security guard has since discovered the temporary residence and made an arrest. Videos of the cozy home are now circulating online, showing the full set-up the unnamed man was using.

Viewers of the video were split in opinion on the man's actions. Some labelled him a "parasite" while others claimed his rent-free style of living should be applauded.

Living in the confines of a shopping mall could be easy considering how little foot traffic some areas receive. One particular centre in the UK has recently seen its walls ripped out and a 1980s aesthetic uncovered.

The "ghost mall" in Manchester was recently photographed, and the mezzanine pulled apart in Stretford Arndale was, as The Mirror reported, full of "magic" pieces from the previous century.

Few members of the public travel through the once prominent shopping mall and it would seem the "time capsule" is barely surviving after demolition orders were confirmed for parts of the building.
