Jonnie Irwin enjoys ‘full on’ family day after difficult week amid terminal cancer battle

Jonnie Irwin has enjoyed a "full-on" family day out following a difficult week as his terminal cancer battle continues.

The Place In The Sun host announced last year that he has lung cancer, but ever since, he has been making the most of his time with his family.

This weekend, after being unwell during the week, he and his wife Jessica and their children, Rex, four, and twins Rafa and Cormac, three, went out in the rain to watch monster trucks before attending a christening party.

The 49 year old shared some snaps from his day on his Instagram account on Sunday, 10 September.

In one of those pictures, Jonnie has one of his children on his shoulders as they head to the funfair at the event.

He also shared a video of the little ones enjoying the monster trucks as they showcased their skills on the wet grass.

To complete the trio of photographs, Jonnie posed alongside his wife of seven years at what appears to be a church.

Jonnie captioned the sweet post writing: "Been pretty unwell this past week but felt better this morning, so headed off to watch some monster trucks.

"Kids loved it, got soaked in the rain, quick change when we got home to go again at a Christening party. Full on Sunday."

Jonnie looked relaxed as he wore a white t-shirt with a green jacket over the top, and a pair of baggy grey trousers.

To complete the outfit, he decided to go for a cream hat.

The special day out comes just weeks after the family made more special memories in the summer holidays as they escaped to Yorkshire Wildlife Park for a night.

After spending the night away, Jonnie shared a few photos from the holiday and told his followers: "Just back from an incredible couple of days and a night at @yorkshirewildlifepark. Really well thought out for families with the animals, ranger talks, live shows and on site accom.

"I’d definitely recommend the trip for families as it was one of the most fun weekends we’ve done, and the boys were constantly engaged. Lots of space.

"Top marks to all the staff and @wildlife_fdn who create a great experience for everyone. We’ll be back!"

Ever since he announced his tragic diagnosis, Jonnie has been open and honest with his followers, sharing both the good times and the bad.

Recently, he shared that he had a nasty injury following a fall, and that led to his fans urging the TV star to take care of himself.
