Cher Earns No. 1 On Billboard Songs Chart For Seventh Straight Decade

Cher has earned a new No. 1 song on a Billboard songs chart for the seventh decade in a raw.

“DJ Play a Christmas Song,” the lead single from her latest album, Christmas, topped the December 2-dated Dance/Electronic Song Sales survey.

“DJ Play a Christmas Song” was digitally released on October 6. Cher performed the song during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on November 23, and on German TV show “Wetten Daas” two days later.

Christmas is the 27th studio album by the American singer, actress and television personality, and her first album of original material in ten years.

With this, Cher becomes the only singer/band other than the Rolling Stones with at least one new No. 1 on a Billboard songs chart in each of the seven decades since the 1960s.

Cher scored her first Billboard songs chart topper with “I Got You Babe,” when she was part of Sonny & Cher, the pop and entertainment duo made up of her and husband Sonny Bono. The song hit No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100 chart in August 1965.
