Drag performer Lucinda Behind said: ‘Britney is honestly quite the icon, a hard worker and a fighter.

‘I’ve always been inspired by strong women and Britney is a strong woman.

‘She has been through it all and she still stands on top, releasing a book to tell her story, releasing music. She is it, baby.

‘She is it and she inspired me to just keep trying, keep going and work hard and be sexy.’

Justin is yet to comment publicly on the memoir.

A source told Entertainment Tonight: ‘Justin has been focusing on his own family and trying not to concern himself with Britney’s memoir.’

The Telegraph’s music critic Neil McCormick described it as an ‘extremely powerful memoir’, awarding it four out of five stars.

He writes: ‘Ultimately, The Woman In Me is a story not about music so much as about the way that women are still routinely mistreated in the music business.

‘That it hasn’t turned into a complete tragedy is a testament to Spears’s essential fortitude of spirit – something that burns off these pages.’

Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel last week the host asked her how she would feel if she was in the book.

‘Dude, I don’t know. I don’t know. I’m hoping that everything is all good with her. Everything’s beautiful. The future should be celebrated.’

As Jimmy continued to ask whether she would rather be in it or not, she replied ‘Listen, I’d rather it be you than me.’

Britney Spears’ memoir was given a riotous launch party in London with drag and burlesque artists performing to some of her biggest hits.

Mother of the house Margo Marshall whetted fans’ appetites by reading an extract from the book where Spears talked about her special relationship with the gay community which she says gave her “unconditional love”.

Margo felt incredible honoured to be hosting the event as she told the crowd at the venue in the Covent Garden area of central London: ‘I grew up in a tiny little town.

‘Little old me is actually working for a Britney Spears event. This is unreal.’
